Description:
A very high quality Whitworth Breech Loading Cannon recently discovered in an Alabama estate. This was likely manufactured in the 1960s or 70s and was reportedly shot on many occasions by the original owner. He had passed away and I bought a number of artillery pieces out of the estate including this and a few others I will be listing. This one is very high-quality and very reasonable for the amount of work that probably went into making this. It is in overall very good to excellent condition but needs a little bit of cleaning, I left it just the way I found it. It does not have a true Whitworth bore but has a rifled muzzle. It appears that the wheels might be on backwards but they are original to the piece. This likely cost in excess of $20,000 new. Very hard to find a Whitworth at all and is the only one I've had in over 30 years. Please examine the photographs closely I have put a ruler up against it so you can see the dimensions.
