Description:
SOLD    LETTERED  .44 RUSSIAN,  has  the "ORIGINAL"  5 inch barrel and the one-line address on the rib and  "44 S&W CTG"   on the left side.
"Caliber Marked New Model No. 3's"  are rarely encountered, on the standard barrel length,   6 1/2 inches.

In 1878, the improved New Smith & Wesson Model 3 Revolver was introduced. This New Model 3 is serial numbered 35110.  All numbers match on this  Rare factory  5" barrel  as stated in the "HISTORICAL FACTORY LETTER"
According to the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" this gun was likely manufactured in the SECOND year of production.  This revolver is a dark plumb brown patina finish.
Some light pitting on the surface, but mostly smooth patina. The gun is mechanically perfect and locks up super tight.
The Ivory grips have a nice look, and feel great in the hand.  The bore is shinny with very good rifling.
