Description:
Made by Joseph Strassberger, a local gunmaker in Traunstein, Bavaria, Germany.
SOLD<   3 barreled “drilling”, 16 Ga double, over, cal. 118,35 (9.3x72R) rifled barrel. Black Powder proofing on shotgun and rifle barrel.  Probably made around 1890-1912.  Excellent example of old world craftsmanship. Light frost in the shotgun barrels and moderate pitting in the rifle barrel with strong visible rifling. Indicating black powder usage but still very shootable.

The barrels retain about 80% original blue with patches of oxidation, areas thinning to brown and scattered signs of handling marks. The barrel rib address reads “J.STRASSBERGER, TRAUNSTEIN”. The frame, lockplates and other metal surfaces are a mostly gunmetal gray with some case-hardened color still visible on the sides of the frame and around the hammers. Engraved patterns border the frame and locks and screw heads.
The checkered round-knob pistol grip buttstock with left-side cheekpiece and Schnabel-style forend are very good with scattered light handling marks and a few scratches. There is a small sliver of wood missing from the left side of the forend..
Underlever action is smooth, and locks up as tight as it did 100 years ago. Finish seems to be all original.
Barrel selector lever on top works with the right hammer to fire the bottom barrel. Small receiver sight has small slides for windage and elevation adjustments. Front trigger is a “set” trigger for a lighter touch, with an adjustment screw. C&R ok. $50.00 shipping. Know your local laws.  Will include 10 pieces of Norma brass.
