Description:
Marked at the back of the lock plate "Harpers Ferry 1848". Ahead of the hammer is the typical American Eagle and marked "US". This is a 3-band musket which has a barrel length of over 42 inches. Barrel is mostly a light gunmetal grey. These were never finished. I believe they were left in the white. Has excellent markings with the P and the V ahead of the breech as well as an R, B, and a P. Dated 1851 on the upper tang. Original wood is sound and solid with no splits or cracks and just a few light handling mars. Lock plate is smooth and clean with excellent mechanics and very sharp markings. Overall gun is very attractive and all original. Complete with correct sling swivels.
