Description:
General Specs: Lefever, Year 1902, 12 Gauge, 7lbs 7oz, Chokes LM/F, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 13/16"
Serial Number: 38179

The Lefever GE Grade guns are not the fancy, engraved guns from Lefever Arms, but they were not the lowest end of the scale either.  The DS was Lefever’s entry level gun, then came the H Grade, then the G Grade.  The G Grade had true Damascus Steel barrels instead of twist steel and they used a much nicer grade of European walnut to stock the gun, with a finer checkering pattern to set it off from the lower grades.  Most of the lower grade guns from any maker tend to be worn beyond desirability.  Worse yet, they have been “fixed” and “restored” by basement tinkerers that relinquish the gun to a state of unworthiness for anyone who knows fine vintage American double shotguns.  This Lefever, serial number 38179 shipped in 1902, is one of the lucky ones.  It remains intact, with all original parts, nicely figured walnut stocks with gorgeous Damascus steel barrels, 30” long choked a nice LM/F, with EXCELLENT BORES ON THE UNDAMAGED STAR DAMASCUS STEEL BARRELS RETAINING A MINIMUM BARREL WALL THICKNESS ANYWHERE ON THE BARRELS OF 30 THOUSANDTHS…A VERY HEALTHY SET OF BARRELS INDEED.  This Lefever has been professionally restored to perfection, with 99% vivid bone and charcoal case colors, perfect screws, barrels tight as new on the hinge ball and breech face, all in top mechanical condition.  The ejectors are strong and properly timed.  The gun weighs a comfortable 7lbs. 7oz. and balances nicely between the hands.  Fine Lefever guns restored to historically correct finishes are very desirable in today’s market.  Many of you know that the cost of a quality restoration like the one completed on this Lefever GE grade is costly and takes over a year of waiting to get your gun back.  You cannot get a better restoration than you see on this gun and you can have it next week, not next year!  This is an affordable entry into the fine vintage shotgun market and is ready to be used afield and at the clays course for another 100 years.  Lefever made some beautiful shotguns, and this is one of them.  Thanks for looking!

We employ full time gunsmiths on premises and can perform alterations to suit your needs within a few weeks of purchase. Common requests are: -stock bending to suit your particular requirements -addition of any specified butt pad to increase length of pull -alteration of chokes to suit your shooting preferences -lengthening of chambers and forcing cones -darkening stock color with penetrating stains -restoring any part of the gun including rust blue, charcoal blue, bone and charcoal case color, wood restoration and checkering recuts. If you like one our guns but it needs "tweaked", let us know and we can quote you a time and price. Some enthusiasts like the guns "as found" and others want them "just so". We often list guns as found and let the particular buyer choose how they want their gun to fit or look.
