Description:
Offered for sale is a really nice WWII 1903A4 Springfield Sniper rifle. The barrel date is 8-43, ser.# 3420641. The frame markings with U.S.REMINGTON 03-A3 on the left side, with the serial # on the far right, as is correct on true sniper rifles to leave room for the scope base to mount without obscuring the barrel markings. The barrel marking is RA over the Flaming Bomb with 8-43 below. There is no front sight- never was installed on true snipers. The original stock has great cartouches as well. On the left side an RA with ordinance stamp along with FJA. On the bottom ahead of the floorplate are several other markings along with the number 7. It has a period Weaver scope that appears to be a replacement, as there are no military markings on the scope other than the standard WEAVER K10 El Paso, Tex. The rifle has a MINT bore, great action and what else can I say. A truly pleasing and historic U.S. Issue sniper rifle from WWII. It would be hard to find a better one at this price.
