Description: The Model 686 is the de-facto standard of the Smith & Wesson medium-frame revolver line. It has been used for every purpose from self-defense to target shooting and by a great many people. Like its blued finish cousin, the Model 586, the 686 was designed to correct then existent strength issues with its predecessor, the stainless K-frame Model 66 by using the new, slightly larger L-frame. That Smith & Wesson succeeded with the 686 can be attested to by the fact that the model has been in continuous production since 1980. The example here is a brand new in box Performance Center Pro Series SSR version. It features a 4-inch, tapered-lug barrel, a red ramp front sight and Micrometer-click rear sight, chamfered charge holes in the cylinder, a bossed mainspring, and a recessed crown at the muzzle. The Pro Series SSR has a 0.312-inch smooth combat trigger and a 0.375-inch semi-target hammer. The revolver has been equipped with SSR ergonomic grips designed to force the shooter to use a high hand hold for better gripping during firing. It would make a nice shooter.
