The Stamm-Saurer M1905/07 was an extremely rare experimental military test rifle, designed by Hans Stamm of St. Gallen, Switzerland, manufactured in limited numbers by Adolf Saurer AG in Arbon, and evaluated by the Swiss military prior to its acceptance of the Bern M1911. An extremely robust rifle, the Stamm-Saurer was chambered for the 7.5×55 (GP11) cartridge, had a 23.5” barrel with bayonet lug, a drift adjustable front sight with protective ears, a tangent rear sight whose upper surface was graded 3-20, a straight pull bolt with two locking lugs, a box 6-shot magazine, and a military-configured stock provisioned for a side mounted sling. Patented with #50847 on 9 March 1910. This is an all matching example, SN 5. Very few known, other reported numbers: #6 (sold by Kessler Auktionen in 2019, hammer price 15K CHF), #11 (SIG factory museum). Although the rifle was also reviewed by other countries, none were accepted, leaving the few known examples as fascinating historical footnotes.
