Description:
Offered for sale is a really nice, early S&W single action "Baby Russian" in 38S&W with a spur trigger. 4" Nickle with real Pearl grips. Ser.# 7445 marked with a star on bottom grip strap and 7445 on cylinder face. The 38S&W cartridge was designed for this revolver, and it is the first revolver made in this cartridge. Excellent as new gun, with nice smooth action- locks up beautifully. Very tight barrel to frame fit and latch. The bore is nice as well with only a small spot or two of minor pitting- mostly bright and strong lands and grooves. Very early - shipped Jan.26, 1877 according to Roy Jinks factory letter which is included. The letter states that this revolver was shipped with black hard rubber grips. The pearl grips on it now were done after it left the factory, most likely by M.W. Robinson, the distributor to whom it was shipped to in 1877. The grips fit perfectly and are real pearl. The only fault I see is the barrel address is a little thin on the lower line, but all there. Anyway, a pretty scarce early S&W and sure to please!!! $15 shipping.
