Description: Westley Richards "Heronshaw" Pair. This pair of guns are very close in detail and will be described as one. They are heronshaw model fixed lock box lock guns with "C-Bolt" opening and double triggers on both. The actions on both are silver with well executed Celtic style engraving that follows onto the guards and furniture of both guns. They are both marked "Heronshaw" on the rib of both barrels and numbered 1 and 2. Ejectors are in time and both guns are on face with nice trigger pulls. The barrels on both are proofed at .740 and measure to .740/.741 both are 2 1/2" chambers, gun number 2 has newer london proofs from 1994, gun number 1 has 3 tons per square proofs and both guns have the older 1 1/8 proofs. The wall thickness on all 4 barrels are nearly identical at .026-.028 thou and the cokes are identical in both at .005 and .015, 28" both. The stocks are all in good shape, straight hand/ splinter with matching chequering patterns, dimensions, crestplates and butt plates. Gun # 2 has had a chip repaired at the toe and the repair is stable and was done well, probably a long time ago. The dimensions of both are as follows: 14 1/4" Length of pull, slight cast off, 1 1/2" Drop at comb, 1 3/4" Drop at heel. the serial numbers of the guns are non-sequential as on most of these pairs. The case is period correct and fits the guns well. the leather handle needs repair.
