Payment Types Accepted: Certified Check, Postal Money Order, Personal Check Description: This 12-gauge back-action Scottish game-gun was manufactured in Glasgow by James Gibson & Son around 1875. The side-plates and frame are nicely engraved. The 30-inch laminated-steel barrels have 2-5/8-inch chambers. The exterior of the barrels is flawless and the rebrowned pattern striking, as reconditioned. The gun was professionally restocked many years ago, most likely to achieve its modern shooting dimensions: 14-3/4-inch length-of-pull, 1-1/2-inch drop at the comb, and 2-1/2-inch drop at the heel. The cast is neutral. The gun weighs 7 pounds 8 ounces. The gun has a Jones underlever release action. The hammers are non-rebounding with a half-cock position that is especially useful when hunting. As was common at this time, the barrels are not choked. The bore diameters measured at 9 inches from the breech are both .728 inches. The outside diameters at the muzzles are both .800 inches. The wall thicknesses of the right barrel measured at 9 inches from the muzzle are (top/side/bottom) .040/.044/.049 and at the middle of the barrel are .044/.047/.045. The wall thicknesses of the left barrel are .045/.038/.040 and .046/.035/.040. respectively. The bores are excellent. The gun locks up tightly. The price does not include shipping costs paid by buyer. The inspection period is 10 days from receipt. This shotgun has been fired using low-pressure shells produced by RST Corporation for Damascus barreled shotguns. However, as for any antique or vintage shotgun, and especially one hundred and fifty years old, it is recommended that the new owner have it inspected by his or her professional gunsmith before firing and then only use shells that produce pressures for which the gun was designed.
