Description:
Easily the most beastly and impressive large bore Scott I've ever handled, this incredibly rare 4 bore double fowler is truly immense.  It was made with 38-1/4" barrels with wedge fastened checkered splinter forend.  Back action hammer gun with Jones Rotary underlever for opening.  The back action locks are nicely engraved as is the large frame.  Hammers are nicely shaped, sculpted and scroll engraved.  The buttstock is immense and is nicely checkered through the wrist with a horn capped pistol grip and original checkered horn buttplate.

Overall, the gun remains in good original untouched condition.  Barrels retain about 1/2 of their original damascus pattern with beginning orange peel over the barrels.  Bores do have some pitting throughout.  Checkering is mostly visible on the forend and buttstock.  Action shows evidence of light orange peel and engraving has thinned in some areas just a touch.  Buttstock is sound with some original finish remaining and has any number of handling marks and hunting bumps.  The gun is rumored to have been used near Atlantic City on the coast as a market gun for one of the very early hotels there.  The gun is absolutely presentable as it sits, or would restore in deluxe fashion to be brought back to her former glory.  Most importantly, the gun has good bones.

This monstrous and rare 4bore double is priced at $22,500 plus shipping to your door as an antique.
