Description:
SOLD PENDING FUNDS.

Offered for sale is one (1) Colt Type 6 New Model Breech Loading Police Pistol with a round cylinder, round barrel (turned from octagon), with loading gate and ejector rod.  Serial #13062 (with assembly #164), all matching except wedge, which is #10562. Wedge shows about 95% oringinal blue, and I suspect this is original to the gun as Colt was using up old parts.  Caliber is 38 rimfire, barrel is 4.5", 98% original factory nickel.  The cylinder scene is 100% clear, grips are near excellent and numbered to gun on inside, hammer has excellent vivid case colors.  Action works perfectly, locks up tight, holds full and half cock.  Cylinder chambers are perfectly clean, barrel has minor area of darkening, very strong lands and grooves otherwise.  The barrel for the Type 6 pistol was made by turning an octagonal barrel (originally for the percussion Pocket Model of Navy Caliber) to a round shape.  An excellent reference book for the small frame Colt Conversions is titled "Variations of Colt's New Model Police & Pocket Breech Loading Pistols by Breslin-Pirie-Price, please refer to pages 80-82 for a detailed description of this model variation.  Frame style is the second or "B" style with the stacked patent dates, the large hammer screw and the outside gate spring.  Barrel marking is "Colt's Pt.F.A.MFG.CO over HARTFORD CT.U.S.A.  Total reported production for this model is 4500 guns, with more than 60% having the 5.5" and 6.5"barrels.  More than half are reported to be in the .38 caliber rimfire cartridge.  This gun, serial #13062, is in the first serial number range of #7000-#13500.  This gun is in top condition for the collector and would be a great choice for a factory case.  For sale in lower 48 states USA.  Shipping with insurance $45.  Bank MO, USPS MO, or personal check.  Will hold the personal check until clears.
