Description:
Absolutely dandy little Westley Richards 20ga Droplock made between the wars. This gun with finely point pattern checkered forend with horn tip, Westley Richards single selective trigger, auto ejectors, and auto safety. Boxlock action with blued and engraved floorpate which opens for removable locks. The capped pistol grip buttstock is extraordinarily fine English Walnut and checkered through the wrist in point pattern with tear drops behind the action and the stock terminates with an aged Silver's type pad.
This gun was owned by a former legendary early collector. Thumbing through the old A&F records this mans name will be found with many very high end guns including Bosses, Purdey's Parkers, etc from the late 1930's through the 1950's. This collector put small red beads on all of his guns and had the stock shields engraved "G.P." His guns were all impeccably maintained and this example is no different from so many others I have seen or handled. They are all top shelf!
This find gun retains about 95% of what appears to be its original barrel blue with some thinning at carry point. Receiver retains more than 1/2 of its original case color and engraving is nice and crisp. Floor plate retains about 1/2 of its original blue and is toning nicely. Stocks are sound with minor handling marks and retain most of their original finish with finish added for preservation somewhere along the way, checkering has thinned a touch but still fully present and feels comfortable. Bores are brilliant and shiny and mechanics are crisp.
