I AM NOT THE CHEAPEST BUT MY SWORDS ARE REAL. Beautiful Confederate US Model 1832 short sword. Though it follows the same basic pattern of its US counterpart there are obvious differences. The blade meas. approx. 18.75 inches long and does not have the usual array of fullers at the top and bottom. Blade surface is completely smooth. Edges are in good condition. Blade surfaces are dark and discolored from dirt and oxidation. Rough cast brass grip is very heavy. It has the usual scale or feathered type surface but the casting seams along the edge of the grips have not been well sanded and are very pronounced. Also, the details of the eagle on both sides of the pommel are very subdued. A look at the brass guard in cross section shows it to be a bit thicker than its Union counterpart. The leather scabbard has is missing a small portion of the leather toward the drag. The top portion has the brass throat with frog stud and the actual body of the black leather scabbard which despite the break, is in good shape. The bottom section is made up of the brass finial only. The finial has the shadow of a now lost paper label. A nice example of a Confederate manufactured item SOLD |
