COLT MODEL 1861 NAVY REVOLVER - FACTORY ENGRAVED & CASED
This example, #12237E, was produced in 1863 and is in very good condition. The case-hardened frame, hammer and lever show an even semi-bright finish with some color, and fine standard engraving.
Barrel is faded to patina with traces of blue. Cylinder shows matching patina with faint scene ( as usual ), very good nipples, and safety pins there but well-worn.
Brass engraving showing wear with some silver remaining on triggerguard.
Standard markings with significant loss on the barrel address. All matching #'s except wedge.
Very nice mellow-aged ivory grips showing grain.
Mechanically fine.
Nice well-built old case with key showing normal wear and some warpage on the lid. Case lock edge stamped "COLT / R RODGER / 1861". Accoutrements, including Colt's mould, are in very good condition.
All in all, a good looking set.
