SOLD!! PENDING FUNDS. This is a pre WW1 slide action Winchester model 1897 12ga. This is about as good as it gets for a gun of 111 years old. This shotgun is 98% mint, with a nice tight action, and a mirror bore in the 28" MODIFIED CHOKE barrel. All the finishes are original, with real nice deep blue to the metal surfaces, with clear crisp script and proof marks. The stock and forearm are free of cracks or defects, with only minor knicks and blems to be expected with age. The original steel checkered butt plate is intact and in great shape as well. The gun takes down and reassembles tightly as designed, and has never been adjusted at the take up pawl (pic. 14). This is a COLLECTOR QUALITY piece, and the best one I have ever owned.
