Description: Made in 1865 this cavalry carbine saw use on both side of the American Civil War and was highly praised for its long range accuracy. Despite being ignited by a separate percussion cap these carbines utilized a brass metallic cartridge to hold the projectile and propellant. It was said that these cases could be reloaded 100 times and that a skilled marksman could fire twelve shots in one minute using this carbine. C&R eligible, no antique. None SOLD Metal Condition: "Fair-Good, scattered corrosion of varying degrees covers both the barrel and receiver. The barrel retains most of its blue while the receiver and buttplate have worn to a patchy patina. All visible stamps remain clear and legible. Wood Condition: "Fair-Good, free of cracks or chips there is a small gouge at the toe of the stock. The stock is covered in other handling marks. The stock cartouches remain clear. Bore Condition: "Poor-Fair, rifling is present but dull. There are many small and some larger pits in the bore.The nipple and the surrounding area is heavily pitted and the flash hole may be blocked.
