Colt 1911 US Property 1943 British proofed .45
A truly historical, rare handgun which has been personalized with a jeweled trigger, hammer, rear sight, and backstrap. Traditional Colt US Property markings along with British proofs. This gun is in wonderful condition for its age and is an obvious safe queen. It appears to be rarely, if at all handled or fired. The slide does stick some when pulled back but returns with a slight nudge. We would suggest a break down and clean and or a quick check with your gunsmith before firing.
Manufactured in 1943, this pistol bears a set of proofs from the Birmingham Proof House, as well as additional stamps for the British military. While not documented, these markings are traditionally found on handguns transferred from the United States to Great Britain as part of the Lend-Lease program.
