LIMITED PRODUCTION AND VERY HARD TO FIND MODEL 96/17, .17 HMR CALIBER, LEVER ACTION RIFLE, #620-47XXX, MADE 2005. The Model 96 series of rifles was offered for s short period of time and was made in four calibers- .22LR, .22 mag., .17 HMR and .44 mag. I bought one of these in .22 LR new and still have it as it is a favorite of mine. In my experience, the .22 LR was the most most produced and most common with the .22 mag next, .44 mag. next and the .17 HMR the least produced and most difficult to find now. I'm not sure why this rifle was dropped from production as it is accurate, versatile and just handles well. This one is like new overall and has the factory supplied scope base installed on the receiver top. There is one Ruger magazine in the rifle and it comes with four (4) extras for a total of 5 magazines! All of these Model ninety-six carbines are scarce and this is a rare caliber example in great condition. Prices on all calibers of this model are rising quickly. No box.
