Description:
***   SOLD  ***   Solid Westley Richards sidelock ejector made 1925 – 27. Cased in its original leather case. Very nicely figured English walnut, tasteful engraving, residual case coloring, hidden third fastener, gold line cocking indicators, double triggers, automatic ejectors and auto safety. Nice handling lightweight game gun by one of England’s premier gunmakers. Weighs 6lb 6oz.   ***   The 28” original nitro proofed barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells and made of “Westley Richards Steel”. They are topped by a raised solid concave gamestyle rib. The rib is inscribed “Westley Richards & Co. London” and has a sliver bead front sight. The right barrel is bored 0.733 with a constriction of 0.010 for Quarter choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.028. The left barrel is bored 0.734 and has a constriction of 0.012 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.027. The bluing on the barrels is in nice condition. The right barrel has a spot of mild pitting but with shiny bores and excellent wall thickness this is of no concern.   ***   The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made of very nicely figured English walnut. There is a brass shield on the bottom of the buttstock showing the initials “T.C.D.” Stock and forearm show some minor handling marks from normal usage and mild wear on the checkering. Stock dimensions are 14-3/8” to a thin buttplate by 1-1/2” by 2”. Cast off for the righthanded shot with a “swept” stock. The leather case is in solid condition in and out but one of the two outer straps is in poor condition.    ***   This is a well made lightweight 12 bore double manufactured “between the wars” by one of Britain’s greatest gunmakers. It is in solid mechanical condition with nicely figured wood and residual case coloring. Would make a good game and clays gun.  ***   I am an FFL and will need a signed copy of your dealer’s FFL license. Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws.
