We offer you a “Pre-War” Winchester model 64 Rifle Chambered in 30 W.C.F. (30-30) that was manufactured in 1940.

This model 64 Winchester wears the serial number of 1252285 which puts the year of manufacture right at 1940. The right side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN CONN.”. The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER / PROOF STEEL - MODEL 64 - WINCHESTER / TRADE MARK - 30 W.C.F. -”. The Winchester Proof is on top of the barrel and the receiver, with the serial number on the underside of the frame “1252285” / W”. “W” stamp? It is said that from February 1939 through February 1941, Winchester stamped a "W" on the bottom of the receiver frames as a quality control check of the bluing. There is a “G” stamped on the underside in front of the trigger. The left side of the front blade sight is marked “SHEARD” the right “MARBLE”. The tang sight is marked “LYMAN / MIDDLEFIELD / CONN. U.S.A.”. The tang sight is complete and functions as it should.
The 24 inch barrel has a bright bore with no issues. The bluing is in very fine condition with some light scattered freckling. The receiver finish is also in very fine condition but shows one small spot of light surface pitting as shown. The forearm is solid with no chips, cracks or repairs. The butt stock has one crack the top as shown with the rest being solid with no issues. Overall this is a very fine example of a model 64 that is 82 years old and has a lifetime of hunting still in it.
