This is the only site I use and do not plan to change. Description: This antique Purdy double rifle is cased and has the original leather covered flask and oil bottle. The flask is marked "AM FLASK AND CAP CO" and the oil bottle is marked "James Dixon & Sons 212M". The original key is present. The case shows it's age, however the rifle has stood the test of time very well. There are case colors present on the locks as well as the breech. The locks have safeties and they exhibit strong case colors. The bores have 10 lands and groves and are simular to Henry Rifling and there is a light frosting in the bores. The original ebony ramrod is serial numbered to the gun. The gun weighs 8 pounds 1 ounce. The barrels are 29 3/8 inches long. It has a round cap box that is well engraved as is the rest of the gun. The screws have not been buggered. The rib is engraved "J. Purdy 314 1/2 Oxford Street London" The English checkering is strong and in good condition and the barrels are stub Damascus.
