Description:
Built in the late 1920's at the peak of fine gunmaking, this London Best needs no introduction. An extremely fine 12ga Boss heavy proof pigeon gun made with 30" Sir Joseph Whitworth Fluid steel chopper lump barrels that have beautiful hand filed top rib. Gun made with splinter forend with Anson type pushbutton release. The case hardened action is engraved in gorgeous rose and scroll and is very delicate and finely cut- most certainly by Sumner and a work of art to behold! The gun was made with double triggers, auto ejectors, safety. The engraved steel capped pistol grip buttstock is of extremely fine English Walnut with great grain and contrast and terminates with its original checkered butt. The gun is housed in what appears to be its original Oak and leather case with makers label on inside.
The gun remains in excellent overall condition. Barrels retain nearly all of their factory quality restored finish. Action retains about 65% bold original case color. The stocks are sound, gorgeous figure, and retain about all of their hand rubbed finish. Bores are brilliant and shiny. Mechanics are crisp.
