1859 Dated 2-BAND Pattern 1856 .577 Caliber Carbine
Here we present an antique British Proofed Percussion Enfield Pattern 1856 Artillery Carbine Musket made in 1859 in Birmingham, England. This pattern was used by the British Military between 1856 into the 1870's. This is a scarce, original example of the British 1856 Pattern 2-band Percussion Artillery Carbine.
This one is marked on the butt plate tang “LC” for Lower Canada as well as “D” & “6”.
The overall condition is very good. Robust action. Bright bore with nice rifling. The stock contains a few period repairs but remain solid throughout. “W. BLYTHE” is stamped on the left side of the stock. The barrel is letter with proof marks including Liege proof marks—they likely supplied the barrel. “1859/ENFIELD” is engraved on the lock.
