Universal M1 Carbine .30 carbine
More than 426,000 carbines were manufactured by Universal Firearms over a 25 year period from 1961 through 1986. The first generation carbines used mostly surplus GI parts and were interchangable. As the GI parts became scarce Universal began to make their own parts and began simplification of the US M1 Carbine design. This is a very rare version of this rifle as it is among the first made with a serial number of 32379 and has the wooden upper instead of the metal heat shield of later versions. It also has a nice aftermarket adjustable rear sight. The earlier versions are generally preferred because they used original GI parts which are more durable. The bore is bright with nice rifling. The action is smooth and locks into battery without any slip. The hardwood stock is in excellent condition showing little wear and a beautiful, wavy pattern. If you're wanting an M1 Carbine but don't wish to pay collector prices, this Universal M1 Carbine would be an excellent choice!
