*** SOLD, pending payment *** One of the rarest Model 70s that I have ever had the privilege to handle. Incredibly rare and genuine investment grade Winchester Model 70 Carbine in 7.65 M/M caliber! Everything checks out on this fabulous rifle with perfect stampings, front sight ramp transition, stippling, crown, etc. Very careful scrutiny of the underbarrel stamping compared to a known original 30-06 of the same era (see pic) leaves no doubt that the unique 37 mark was made by the same stamp, and based on its position, almost certainly by the same hand all those 85 years ago! The condition is absolutely remarkable showing 98% original finishes throughout. Interestingly, the butt plate has a few light file notches on it's edge near the heel, suggesting that it did in fact see some light use in the field, probably chasing Whitetails during prouder times. Quite likely the only legitimate 7.65 carbine you will ever see, and the potential centerpiece of any Pre War Model 70 collection.
