***SALE PENDING***Savage 1895 in 303 cal, for sale is one of the Stratton rifles has the initials of the owner inside of the receiver. Of the 5000 or so 1895 rifles only 9 will letter as engraved, this is one of them. Comes with a copy of the original ledger at Savage showing the entry for case color receiver, engraved and checkered with a full octogon barrel. The letter from John Callihan spells all the info out in his document. the barrel is 26", stock is straight with a cresent butt plate. I pulled the forearm off and the buttplate and found all the serial numbers match including the number on the barrel. Condition is used, the bore is dark with strong rifleing, a few hidden areas show original case color but for the most part there is an even patina overall except for the areas someone tried to clean the barrel. There is a 4' crack extending forward from the butt plate and a small sliver of wood missing from the shnabbel, other than that I don't see any major repairs to the wood. Please see photos.
