According to the Winchester Handbook by George Madis, 16,905 were made in .25-20 caliber; 4,718 in .32-20 caliber and 3293 in .44-40 caliber. The .25-20 was the standard caliber in this model and, as can be seen by the numbers produced, .32-20 and .44-40 are quite scarce. This rifle shows fine, even blue on the barrel that is slightly dulled from age. The receiver blue has aged and thinned to an even light blue/brown with excellent screws and excellent blue on the loading gate. Fitted with a correct Lyman tang sight with small folding aperture intact (and NO extra holes hiding underneath!), blank in the rear sight dovetail and standard small Lyman blade/bead in the factory short ramp. Tight action, tight takedown and exc. bright bore. These are more scarce than most Winchester collectors realize, especially in this caliber.
