Description:
*** SOLD *** Here's a great example of the famed forerunner to the Winchester Model 70, the Winchester Model 54. It's not perfect, but is remarkably unaltered and completely original, right down to the seldom seen hook swivels, and it is chambered in the very difficult to find 270 caliber. (most were 30-06). Overall condition is 90-95% with numerous scuffs and handling marks, but no cracks or deep gouges anywhere. The insides still look brand new after nearly a century!!
The S/N is 3967 with matching scribed bolt made in 1926. The barrel is 24" with an excellent shiny bore and the mechanical function is smooth and proper in all regards. The rear receiver bridge remains undrilled and there are no bolt or safety alterations whatsoever. The factory 6W folding rear sight is present, along with the factory inletted and installed Lyman 48W receiver sight which has all matching component #s.
I have had (and still have) a great many Model 54s over the years, and the 270 has been among the most elusive to obtain. You will not find one any more original than this, and the condition is still good enough to be a proud addition to most any collection.
Shipping from Alaska is $75 via Priority Mail with full insurance in a custom cut foam lined box for maximum protection. Credit card users please add 3%.
