These fine rifles were made in the late 1970s to the early 1980s and were some of the very best, high quality Hawken style muzzle loaders manufactured at the time. They were made in .45, .50 and .54 caliber percussion. All had good quality walnut stocks and single set triggers. They were made in either brass mountings or iron. The scarcest were iron and the scarcest caliber was .45. From my observations, it seems .50 in brass was the most common and .54 in brass second. Those in .45 caliber are seldom seen and this is one of the few made with browned iron mountings. This is an excellent example that has not been altered. It appears very little, if at all, used and sports a nice piece of walnut. The octagon barrel on these is 30" long and nicely browned. Original rear sight and blade front sight. I bought one of these when they were discontinuing them back in the early 1980s and have hunted with it and shot it ever since. Great rifles! This is a very hard to find variation.
