The Hunter Arms Co., producer of L. C. Smith shotguns, made somewhat over 500,000 shotguns, but only 778 "0" Grade ejector 16 gauges were made. This particular gun was made in 1903 and has the correct early features for that year. It has exceptionly well grained wood for a "0" grade. The barrels are 28 inches long and retain a strong damascus pattern. Inside the barrels there are some light blemish's and a few pits that don't look too deep. You can see by the photo's that the frame retains some case colors but a lot have faded away. The metal has some peppering on it as well as some staining  and lighter dings. The wood has some scratches in the varnish but no gouges. It appears that a layer of varnish was applied to the wood a long time ago. The buttplate is a Hunter Arms buttplate but it is undersized and must be a replacement. No restoration was done to this gun, but I believe it could be cleaned up some. This is a piece for the discriminating collector.
C & R or FFL required. Cashiers/Bank check.  $50 shipping and ins.
