Rifle was drilled or tapped for a scope sometime during its lifetime, but these have been filled and “hidden” when the rifle was professionally refreshed. The stock was cleaned up and the checkering was recut. Bore does show some grayness from having been used but it has more than enough life left to continue hunting. SN, 72943. The bolt matches the action, and this includes the safety, gas shroud and cocking piece. The rear sight base also matches. The front sight has been replaced with an American style post. Horn grip cap and horn butt plate. I think this rifle was built in 1913 or 1914. This a nice hunting rifle as is or…it could be an excellent foundation on which to build your custom hunting rifle on. Have you priced original Mauser actions lately? And this one comes with a matching and complete factory bolt and bottom metal with the floorplate lever. Your gunsmith can reinstall the tangent rear sight on your new barrel in the caliber of your choice, and even use the front sight base from this rifle too. You’d end up with a custom rifle with original serial numbered matching parts. I suppose you could skip the tangent sight and go with the classic quarter rib too. The possibilities are real and you can save a lot of money with this as your basis to build on. Must ship to an FFL. Credit cards add 3% for the convenience fee. If you have questions, let me know. You’ll pay the actual shipping via FEDEX to your FFL dealer. Strength and Honor! SOLD |
