Description:
Made in 1888 this truly extraordinary Stephen Grant Side lever is one of the sexiest guns I have had in recent years.  The gun is a best quality gun made with splinter forend, double triggers, straight grip buttstock that has checkered butt, extractors, safety, and near fully engraved side lever.  The gun is engraved in rose and scroll and inlaid gold "SAFE" in front of the safety.  The stocks are made from exhibition English walnut with superior modern shooting dimensions.  The gun comes cased in a full leather case with accessories.

This fabulous gun was originally built on August 14, 1888 and was ordered by Sir J.W. Kelk. It was ordered as a two-gun set. This is the number 1 gun of the pair. It originally had 28" barrels and is a non-ejector gun as many Grants of this time period were built as extractor guns. The original barrels had been sleeved at some point. The number 2 gun of the pair was last seen in 1956 and owned by a J. Doggett who lived in Eire, Ireland.  The original owner of the gun presented here, J.W. Kelk, was also a knight and a baron and is listed in Who's Who of England.

Sidelever Grants in 16 bore are quite scarce and this one has been expertly restored for modern hunting and shooting needs. The gun was completely redone including new 32" barrels, new stock, new pins, engraving and color. It was built by Atkin, Grant and Lang under the supervision of then owner, Ken Duglan who committed his finest craftsmen to carry out the work in 2003. The stock has a long LOP at 15 1/2" with modern high dimensions measuring 1 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 15 1/2" with a 1/4" cast off for a right-handed shooter. The barrels are perfect with chokes measuring .008 and .025. A new oak and leather case was also constructed for it at the same time by AGL in England and is offered with the run.  A fantastic gun to own and shoot.

These long legged vintage English guns simply dont exist in nature - this one is extraordinarily fine and remains in near mint condition with virtually all finish to wood and metal.  It is mechanically perfect and the bores are brilliant and shiny.  This is the ultimate dove gun!

This gun is priced at $21,500 plus shipping to your FFL.  Please dont hesitate to contact me with any questions or reasonable offers on this exceptional Grant at (704) 280-2382 or via PM on this site.
