S&W pre-29 .44 magnum revolver. This 6 ½” barreled blue pre-29 was made in 1957 thus pre-dating the use of model numbers.
Most pre-29’s were 5-screw models, with 4-screws in the side plate and one screw in the trigger guard, and when introduced as a numbered model in 1958 one of the four side plate screws (the top one) had been removed. So, this pre-29 is fairly rare and unique it is a 4-screw model with no model number making it a transition model of sorts.
This pre-29 is in completely original and retains over 98% blue; has the original coke bottle diamond checkered grips, target hammer, target trigger, red ramp front sight and white outline rear sight.
