This superb full stocked Steyr Mannlicher hunting carbine has several unusual features. The overall length is approximately 38.75 inch. The 18 inch barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. There is a ramped blade front sight and two leaf rear sight with the second leaf marked 300. The gun has approximately 98% blue with light high point wear. The chamber has German (crown over B, U, G and N) and Austrian eagle proofs. In addition, the chamber area is marked Stm.G. over 10 gr. and 6.4mm over 53 1/2 over 1/27 (probably the date of manufacture).  The top of the receiver is marked in an arc MADE IN AUSTRIA over Patent over Mannlicher and the left side is marked (OESTERR/ WAFFENFABR/ -GES/ STEYR). The serial number, 16392, is on the barrel. The stock, numbered 36111, is excellent. It is sharply checkered at the wrist and forearm, has a metal grip cap and serrated metal buttplate. It also features an adjustable comb that pops up at the push of a button for correct sight alignment when using the installed telescopic sight. Another rarely seen feature is the presence of left and right tree braces that are pulled out for use agains ta tree or post. Finally, the trap under the buttplate provides storage for three additional cartridges. The quick detach Zielvier scope is by Carl Seise Jena. It is retailer marked in script Joh. Springer Erben Wein. The optics are very good with a little cloudiness. The quick detach mounts are see through so tha iron sighes can be used with the scope mounted. The action, including the double set trigger mechanism, functions correctly. If you collect fine European hinting rifles, this superb Steyr Mannlicher carbine in a great caliber and with a combination of great features is ready for the finest collection.
