Interesting Colt model 1849 revolver in .31 caliber with a 5" octagonal barrel, that indexes good and locks up tight with a SN 1442XX , made in 1858.with ,arching numbers including the cylinder.. Exterior finish has faded blue mixed with smooth grey. The dark walnut grips have shrunk and there is a gap on the front edge of the trigger guard. Barrel address and the cylonder scene is strong, however the brass back strap has engraved Wells Fargo Express. Gun was maded 1858 and not sure how of the background of this gun.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
