This cadet rifle is rare due to the fact that few cadet rifles were made and still fewer yet were nickel-plated for use as a parade rifle. The barrel has sharp rifling and I have shot a 3 1/2 inch group at 100 yards firing 545gr cast lead bullets with 65 gr FFg black powder. The nickel plating is 130 years old but remains in good shape. The only area of wear is the steel butt stock as the rifle was stored resting on it( normal wear and tear). This is a wonderful example of military history that is in great shape- and very shootable! I also can include a custom made bullet Mould for $100 extra ( cost me $180). I also will share my insights and knowledge on casting and loading the cartridges should the buyer desire. Also included with the sale is the book 'Loading cartridges for the original.45-70 Springfield rifle and Carbine' by Spence and Pat Wolf -3rd Ed.
