One of the last of the Pre-Bolt action years 1886s, this was a popular big game rifle made portable by the takedown feature. This is the only Model 1886  expressly chambered for a smokeless powder cartridge and is merely the big .45-70 case necked down to .338" and firing a jacketed soft point 200 grain slug. This one has the standard 24" light weight round barrel with half magazine and excellent Winchester embossed hard rubber shotgun butt plate. The barrel retains fine blue showing light age and is fitted with a flat top buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and a Lyman "Jack Front Sight" which is a half moon with ivory bead. the receiver is mainly gray with some brown spotting with excellent blue on the bolt. Screw heads look unturned. Fine butt stock and forend show light handling only with tight wood to metal fit. Tight action , takedown and about excellent bore- any minor corrosion is very surface and scattered and ought to scrub out or shoot out.
