"French Gardes De La Porte Du Roi Flintlock musket. Gardes De La Porte Du Roi translates to “Guards of the kings gate". Musket was manufactured at Versailles. Unique drum lock designed to make the musket ready to fire in any weather condition, black powder was protected. Metal has a gray patina. Stock is good with some handling wear. Stock has a beautiful cartouche. Barrel is dated 1815. According to Didier Bianchi’s book, French Military Small Arms, Vol. 1 Flintlock Longarms, only 50 were made at Versailles by Boulet!
