Description:
Feather weight configuration . Caliber 250-3000 Savage. Grade C Circassian Walnut stocks with most lacquer remaining. Checkering is crisp and sharp. Steel buttplate shows no wear. 20 inch light weight rapid taper barrel with a matted rib. Ivory bead front sight, Lyman 2-leaf rear sight and folding tang sight. Gun is engraved in E style pattern. Receiver has about 75% coverage of delicate engraving. Enoch Tue was the Savage engraver and was just as accomplished as any of the Ulrichs. Lever has most all of the case color. Most all of the bright glossy blue remains as well. This gun is accompanied by several documents between PJ Noel of Bowling Green KY and a Savage salesman. He was a serious collector who had some of the best Savages and other top grade guns. His guns had remained in a vault untouched for 60-70 years. When the vault was opened they found some fantastic guns, this being one of them. He kept meticulous records along with a copy of the check he used to purchase this gun. Comes with a framed photo of PJ Noel with his son, 2 hunting dogs and rack of game birds. This is a fantastic Savage model 99 with historic value.
