Description:
James Deakin & Sons fine and scarce English Sheffield Bowie knife. Blade is 10 3/4-inches by 1-1/2-inch wide from 1-4-inch steel stock. Overall length is a bit more than 15-5/8-inches. Faceted double German silver crossguard with rounded balls finials .The main cutting edge bears no nicks or dents while some scratches can be observed on it. German silver ferrule and German silver butt cap. Two German silver escutcheons are seen on the ebony handle (no cracks or chips). The leather scabbard is in an spectacular condition with German silver throat and tip and bears an embossed motif on the front. Back stitching is superbly done. This scabbard is in an exceptional condition. Knife is from between 1850-1875.
