Payment Types Accepted: Cashiers/bank check Description: The two extensive books written on L.C. Smith shotguns, one by Willian S. Brophy and the other by John Houchins, each stated there was only one of these Ideal Grade Gladiator hammer guns produced. Since then a thorough serch of the original Hunter Arms record books found that there were 100 made. During the period covering 1917-1918 the Sears Roebuck company placed an order with the Hunter Arms company to furmish them with double barreled shotguns and the above listed gun was part of that order. These guns are the same ones sold under the L.C. Smith name but Sears had their trade name "Gladiator" inscribed on the guns instead of "L.C. Smith". Otherwise there were no other changes made to the Sears guns. This particular gun has 32 inch barrels and is in 12 gauge. As you can see from the photo's, it is in top original condition with deep dark blue on the barrels and much strong case colors. In one of the photo's you will see a rear area of the right barrel that has thinned out blue from carrying in the field. It has it's original buttplate. The opening lever when closed is far to the right. The bores are bright and shinny. The walnut wood has a nice straight grain. The name Gladiaror Ideal Grade is stamped on top of the left barrel. Any L.C. Smith hammer gun, like this one, that was factory engraved is very rare. In my some fifty years of collecting Smith''s, this is the only one to my knowledge that has ever been found. It is time for me to pass it on to another, but younger, collector. $50 shipping and ins. FFL or C and R required. Pay Pal or cashiers/bank check. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Shotgun Gauge: 12 Gauge |
