Description:

Best grade Greener Self-Acting Hammerless Ejecting Gun 12 bore with 27 in. fine Damascus barrels bored full & full. This is an interesting gun in that it was sold at the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago, Ill. for 45 guineas, a gold coin weighing 8.4 grams or 0.27 troy oz and valued at 21 Shillings. The weight of gold in 45 guineas now would be worth about $20,000. It functions perfectly and is in very nice condition. The action is in the white covered with very delicate fine acanthus engraving and carved fences. The fine Damascus barrels still have the factory “brown” finish, perfect bores, and 2 ½” chambers with long forcing cones. Measured wall thickness is 0.040" eight inches from the muzzle and 0.070" eight inchs from the breach. The black powder proof of the period was for a nominal 9000 psi. load. Off-the-shelf ammunition meeting that standard would be found in 1 oz loads. I routinely used 2 ¾” 1 oz, 1200 fps hand loads developing 8000 psi. The stock is very attractively redone with 1 ½” DC, 2 ½” DH, 14 ¼” LOP to a checkered butt, and ¼” cast-off for a right-handed shooter. Weight is 6lb 10oz. REDUCED FROM $2750
