16 gauge dovetailed chopper lump barrels measure 29-1/8” with 2-3/4” chambers, marked "Defourny & Monard a' Vivegnis - Liege" & "Fait Pour Paul Theegarten a' Bucarest" on tops. Matted concave rib has gold bead. Flats are stamped with Belgian nitro proofs. Casehardened sideplate boxlock action features hidden third latch, automatic safety and double triggers. Action is engraved with near full coverage engraving delicate scroll surrounding rose bouquets & sprays. Fences are beautifully relief carved in acanthus pattern. Blued top lever & trigger guard are engraved to match.
Lightly figured dark European walnut pistol grip buttstock has fine point checkering with stitch carved borders, features right hand shadow line cheekpiece. Engraved steel grip cap and checkered wood butt w/ engraved steel heel & toe plates. Measures 14 1/8" LOP, 1 9/16” DAC, 2 3/4” DAH, and 14 1/8” LOP, with a neutral cast. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Bores are bright shiny, Left choked MOD, Right choked IMP CYL. Weighs 6 pounds 6 ounces.
