Description:
"Regarded by many collectors as one of the most handsome of all percussion U.S. military longarms, the "Mississippi Rifle" owes it's name to the successful use of the weapon by a Mississippi regiment under command of Jefferson Davis, in the Mexican War.  During it's period of manufacture and use, military authorities even then regarded the Model 1841 as the best of it's type."  The rifle is a .54 caliber with a 33 inch round barrel.  It has a walnut stock with a large brass patchbox on right side of butt.  The lockplate is marked "Robbins & Lawrence, U.S." forward of hammer and "Windsor, VT. 1849" at rear section of lock.  Robbins & Lawrence manufactured this rifle from 1848 to 1853.  Later models were used in the Civil War primarily by southern forces.  This rifle is in excellent condition and the action is fine.  This "Mississippi Rifle" will make a very nice addition to any advanced military collection.  No FFL required.
