Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Money Order, and Cashier's Check Description: SOLD This Colt Was produced in 1917. This pistol's serial number is W 92042. The "W" in front of the serial number is to denote Webley Cartridge for British Contract. The Cartridge for this Colt is the 455 Eley Self Loading Cartridge. This got very confusing for the workers at Colt! The Eley cartridge is a improved cartridge of the Webley 455 round. The Original magazine is marked 455 Eley. The original barrel has the correct English proof marks on the barrel. The commercial style bore is very bright and in near minty condition. The slide has the correct English early style proof marks. The frame is also English proofed in the early style. The slide is marked on the right side, Colt Automatic Calibre 455. From what I could find on research is that most of these Colts were issued to the Royal Flying Corps. Some of these Colts were also issued to the Royal Horse Artillery The Royal Naval Air Service And The Royal Navy. Due to the early style proof marks on this pistol, the magazine does not have the Broad Arrow property stamp. This pistol has about 90% of the original commercial finish intact. The grips are in very fine condition. Most of the checkering points are sharp with no flattening. The original magazine is in fine condition with no damage. The action locks up tight. The slide has no real looseness on the rails. All the stamps and lettering are clear and fully readable. This Colt has not been altered or parts switched. This is an original as issued pistol for British War Time Service in World War One. Very few of these British issued Colts came back to the United States. This Colt shows honest service use and wear. This is a very interesting and historical Commercial series Colt that served other nations in war time. This is also a very collectable Colt for the Military collector as well as the Colt collector to have in their collections. Search for hlvfineguns on google for more details. Curio&Relic AKKE (7) F.
