Description:
S O L D .................... 54 caliber, 33" round barrel. Marked near the breech three lines "US/JH/VP". Lockplate marked "E.Whitney, U.S." , actually dated 1850 on the rear of the lock. Notched rear barrel sight, small blade front sight. Brass mounted with walnut stock. Two visible cartouches on the left flat opposite of the lock.
**Barrel retains some of the original brown finish just fading. Bore has strong rifling and scattered rust and some pitting and some shine still abundant. Stock has some nicks and dings but still retains a nice oiled open grained look. Overall this is a very good Model 1841 showing some use but still sharp and crisp.** ....
