SOLD awaiting payment Listing a antique Open top Colt Lightning rifle, it's a round 26" barrel, caliber 38/40, has original rear sight and Rocky Mountain type blade front. sn 9749, a rather early rifle with the finger latch to lock slide located ahead of trigger guard. The rifling in this piece is exceptional for a 137 year old black powder era rifle. Pride in ownership, came outa northern Minnesota and was lettered in 1983, letter pictured, rifle was 98 years old then. I've included a target from last week shooting at 50 yds off hand. Loads cycles and shoots excellent. The early Lightnings had a open top ( pictured ) The worn Checkering on the two piece forearm indicated they are original not replacements. Finish is fine for a old rifle, the wood appears to have been sanded some at one time. The rampant Colt is visible on left side. I ship through USPS but require a C&R or FFL to ship to. According to my post office a antique is a front loader only. I don't need to know how much someone knows I work with the post office to ship my collection which is working just fine for me.
