Description:
SOLD........Bought new by the original owner after a long wait in 2003, this is a spectacular mint-condition S&W Performance Center Model 952-1 9mm target pistol.  It was factory test fired only and comes complete with everything it shipped from the factory with originally.  This was S&W's finest 9mm semi-auto target/competition pistol and retailed for over $1500 dollars when new (if you could find one!).  Only a very limited number of these were made during the one year of production in 2003.  The Model 952-1 came to be in existence after the firearms distributor "Bangers" contracted with S&W's Performance Center to build them 200 Model 952's in 9mm in the year 2000.  Those 200 distributor-exclusive pistols ended up being in such high demand with competitive shooters and collectors that S&W decided to make their own version of the gun without the aid of any of the distributors.  The 952-1 ended up almost a near-duplicate of the original Model 952 made for Bangers except for the finish options, the loaded chamber indicator was changed, the metal backing of the grip panels was removed, and the slide-mounted decocking lever was modified into a safety-only.  These cost-cutting changes allowed S&W to sell the 952-1 for around $1500 retail versus the $2000 plus price tag of the Bangers-exclusive version but not affect the performance of the pistol whatsoever.  The 952-1 proved itself every bit as good as the original 952.  In addition to being very handsome and attractive to look at, it was still made from the best materials available, it was extremely well made with a high-degree of fit and finish, it was extremely reliable, and most importantly it would still out-shoot just about any American-made semi-auto pistol out there in 9mm.  Today, high-condition examples of this very rare S&W auto are very much sought-after by both collectors and serious shooters alike.  This particular example is serial number KAZ1555.  For all intents and purposes it is a brand-new gun.  As mentioned before, it was bought new by the original owner and put into storage, never once fired or carried to the range or field.  All of the factory finishes are pristine like-new, the bore is perfect with sharp rifling, the factory grips are minty with no visible wear or damage, the slide-to-frame fitment is perfect, and all of the controls are in like-new, 100% perfect working order.  Also as mentioned previously, this S&W pistol comes complete with everything it shipped from the factory with, all visible in the pictures below.  If you are a serious Smith & Wesson collector or just a collector of extremely fine firearms, here is your chance to get one of these nearly impossible to find 1-year production Performance Center guns.  There is no doubt that these will continue to appreciate as a phenomenal long-term investment.
